After a great 3-2 win against Belper the week before, Sinfin faced champions Toton.
These two sides have met many times before, all of which Toton eased to victory, but it was Sinfin who opened the scoring. Deja Vu from last week. The opposition defence were simply not ready for Shammar's pace which allowed him to shock the Toton players. The game quickly became one of quality, both sides moving the ball around the pitch looking for openings in each others defences. Toton then showed us why they haven't lost a game all season. Two goals before half time put them into the lead, and gave Sharks a wake up call.
HT: Toton 2-1 Sharks
The second half started brightly for Sharks, controlling the game from the midfield saw chances being created constantly. With a bit of extra quality in the final 3rd, Sinfin would have flipped the scoreline, but that wasn't to be. After a battle in our defence with a Toton striker, the ball found its way through. A composed finish saw Toton extend their lead. As the game was drawing to a close, Sinfin were handed a lifeline in the shape of a corner. The ball was whipped in with quality, Shammar found himself free and guided the ball into the back of the net. The final couple of minutes were tense as Toton soaked up the pressure put on them by a relentless Sharks team. A free kick in the final seconds of the game was our last chance of getting a point. Unfortunately the Toton back line were able to deal with the final attack of the game.
FT: Toton 3-2 Sharks
After 2 great performances we have 1 final chance.
Win and we survive.
Last push needed.
